Your honeymoon should be the most magical holiday of your life. By combining a Kenyan safari with time on pristine sandy beaches you will get an experience that should please both you and your intended.
Start your first holiday of married life exploring the lakes and plains of Kenya, with two lakes that are a part of the Great African Rift Valley and home to some of the most diverse avian populations in Africa. As well as the striking colors of the flamingos, you can see storks and cranes and plenty more to keep ornithologists and nature lovers enthused.
After the lakes, you can explore the Masai Mara, a wondrous place filled with almost unimaginable concentrations of wildlife. Here, you have the chance to experience romance, safari-style with a dawn hot air balloon ride over the savanna.
After the days of activity and constant progress, you can then head to the beach for some chill time, where your itinerary is your own. You and your partner can keep up the frenetic pace with trips and excursions, or take advantage of the spa treatments on offer. Whichever way you choose to enjoy your honeymoon, this trip has something that will keep everyone happy.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Naivasha (95 km, 2 hours)
To begin the first day of your honeymoon, we will collect you from the airport, or your hotel or residence in Nairobi and set out towards to Great African Rift Valley. The landscape has been molded by millions of years of volcanic and tectonic activity, and you can see dormant volcanoes as you pass through the Kenyan countryside.
When you arrive in Lake Naivasha National Park you will pass through the plains where the animals live as you make your way to your selected camp or lodge. Once here you can take time to settle in and be served lunch with views out across the lake and plains of the park.
The afternoon presents a chance to take a boat out to Crescent Island where herbivores come to drink in peace, and later in the evening you can take an optional walking safari around the shores of the lake. Your evening will be spent taking dinner at your accommodation with time to relax and reflect on the travels ahead. Included in this first day of your Kenyan safari is:

Day 2: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru National Park (93 km, 2 hours)
You’ll wake up early and head out to explore Hell’s Gate National Park. With stunning geographical features and an abundance of wildlife, although one of the smaller parks in Kenya it’s well worth the early start to take in the rising sun and morning light. After your exploration here, you’ll return to your accommodation for breakfast and get ready to set out to your next destination.
Northbound towards Lake Nakuru, you’ll be crossing through the unique vistas of the Great African Rift Valley. There’ll be volcanic peaks and lakes for you to take in as you head towards the amazingly diverse park named after the lake. Upon arrival you will be able to settle in and take lunch and a rest.
The afternoon is filled with a game drive, with plenty of opportunity the see the white rhino and leopards that this park is so famous for, along with the avian species that live here. Along with a large colony of flamingos that live on the lake, you have chance to see:
- Pelicans
- Starlings
- Babblers
- Kestrels
- Plovers
Before you set off back to your camp or lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve (300 km, 5 to 6 hours)
Leaving Lake Nakuru, you will take a morning game drive through the park after breakfast. From here, you’ll head towards the iconic Masai Mara, forming part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem and populated with the big five of African safari:
- Leopards
- Lions
- Elephants
- Buffalo
- Rhinos
As well as many more animals that are synonymous with the African plains.
Lunch will be served as you arrive at your chosen accommodation within the Masai Mara and after some time to drop your bags and acquaint yourself with your surroundings we’ll set out on a game drive. Now in the southern plains of Kenya, the landscape takes on a different look to the lakes you’ve spent time around so far.
As evening draws in, you will return to your camp or lodge for dinner and chance to reflect on the nature that surrounds you. Day three of your African safari includes:

Day 4:Full day in Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, you’ll head out into the wilds of the Masai Mara to explore the grasslands and watch the animals that live here go about their day in their natural habitat. Your guide will be an expert in their field, and can help you to track, spot, and identify to majestic animals that you’re seeing.
For lunch you will return to your accommodation and then given a wonderful chance and a fresh experience, for these are the ancestral lands of the Masai people. For a small fee of $20 you will be invited in to their village and culture, with a traditional welcome dance and song, followed by a tour of their village and a chance to get to know their culture.
A long day of safari in the Masai Mara means you’re going to be hungry and tired. What better way to round of the day with a delicious dinner followed by a well-earned sleep? Day four of your safari in Kenya includes:

Day 5: Full day in Masai Mara Game Reserve
Spending a little more time in a place allows you to get a deeper feel for it, and when you get a second full day inside the Masai Mara you can really begin to appreciate it more. You will head out in a different direction this morning, seeing places that one day visitors may not have had chance to explore.
The beasts of the planes;

- Herds of zebra
- Screeching baboons
- Families of elephants
Will be in full majesty, as if waiting for you to appear, camera in hand. Your lunch will be served picnic style today, allowing you a longer journey into the depths of the park and making sure that you get as full an experience of the Masai Mara as possible.
After the sun descends below the horizon and illuminates the skies in near-impossible hues of red and purple, you will go back to your camp or lodge in time for dinner. Pack your bags and be ready for a change in pace on your honeymoon, as you ready to move to the beach the next day.

Day 6: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi by Road, Nairobi to Diani by Plane (265 km, 5 to 6 hours, 1 hour 30 minutes flight)
After five days traversing the national parks, reserves, and lakes of Kenya, spotting myriad animals it’s time for a change of pace on your honeymoon safari trip. After you’ve had breakfast it’s back on the road to Nairobi and the opportunity to watch the countryside go by – this is one of the most fertile stretches of Kenya.
In the capital city, we will take you to lunch at the famed Carnivore restaurant, then take you to Wilson Airport for you to catch your scheduled, domestic flight to Ukunda at the coastal city of Mombasa. We will ensure that you have a transfer from the airport to take you down the coast to the idyllic town of Diani.
Your evening arrival will be perfectly timed for you to have dinner at the romantic hotel you have chosen. This is the time to relax and unwind, rest your weary bones after days in vehicles and air conditioning. The beach awaits you in the morning. Day six of this, your honeymoon safari, includes:

Day 7: Relaxation at Diani
With all of your meals included in your honeymoon safari package, there is little to concern yourself with except making it to the dining room on time. The beach at Diani is pristine, white sand that feels as if it melts between your toes as you walk down the coastline and dip your feet in the warm, lapping waves of the Indian Ocean.
Water sports are an option for the adventurous honeymooners, along with other excursions that will incur extra costs and can be booked locally. You can go snorkeling, take a glass bottomed boat journey over the perfectly clear waters, or jump out of plane in a tandem jump if that’s what a romantic getaway looks like to you.
The relaxation and unplanned time offers a welcome contrast to the planned nature of your safari, and you can take your time to reflect on everything you’ve done on this holiday of a lifetime so far. This day of your honeymoon safari includes:

Day 8: Relaxation at Diani
Along with the active days that are possible in Diani, you can take your first trip to the beach as a married couple and while away the day with pure relaxation. Whether you choose to spend endless hours soaking up the sun and drinking coconuts on the beaches, or laze by the pool with room and bar service on hand, you will make sure you’ll be heading home refreshed.
Spa treatments can easily be organised whilst in Diani too, usually the hotel that you choose will be able to offer options such as:
- Massages
- Facials
- Body scrubs
- Sauna and steam rooms

Again, you can take all of your meals at your hotel or resort, taking the difficulty of deciding which delicious meal to have that night. Be sure to try the local seafood, since it’s what you do when at the coast.

Day 9: Diani/ Mombasa – Nairobi by Plane (1 hour 30 minutes)
After a final breakfast at your hotel or resort, you will be taken to Ukundu airport in time for your scheduled flight back to the capital of Kenya, Nairobi. This is the last chance to garner some understanding of the landscape of Kenya, with plains, grasslands, and dormant volcanoes showing you the most ancient history of the nation.
Once in the capital city, you will be treated again to another meal at the well-renowned restaurant of Carnivore. From here, you can request that your driver take you to the international airport for an onward flight, or ask that you be taken to a hotel or residence in Nairobi, depending on your not steps.
Included in this final day on safari in Kenya is:
