Treetops Lodge
Treetops Lodge is a famous lodge located in the heart of the dense Aberdare Forest in Aberdare National Park. The lodge is 17km from its base camp, the Outspan Hotel and it takes 180km to get there by road. The traveler should be ready for the 3 hour journey from Nairobi to Treetops.
The hotel faces a waterhole and a salt lick in the Aberdare National Park which creates a spectacle as the animals come here every often to drink water. The hotel overlooks the magnificent snowy peaks of Mount Kenya.
Treetops started out as a two-room house and later expanded to a 4-room one.
In February 1952, Treetops received most famous visitor- a young English girl who was a princess in the afternoon as she got in and descended the following morning a queen, Queen Elizabeth II, as her father, King George VI had died during the night. The news of the hotel spread far and wide and anyone coming to Kenya will want to visit this hotel.
Treetop Lodge lies in the path of an ancient Elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Mountains and Mt. Kenya National Park.
